On Kings Day

The “Vozes de Barão” initiative, a «moment of conviviality and encounter between people and arts, where photography, choral singing, short stories, mulled wine and traditional recipes intersect», will take place on the 6th of January, between the 15:30 pm and 16:30 pm, at Espaço ConVida in Barão de São João.

This is an initiative carried out within the scope of the “Gatilho” social inclusion project, which aims to «strengthen the community spirit and increase recognition for inclusive art, through initiatives that equally involve the local community of Lagos», according to the association Questão Repetida, which promotes this PARTIS & Arts for change project in partnership with NECI – Specialized Center for Inclusive Citizens.

“Vozes de Barão” will feature the participation of the group “Gatilho”, made up of 9 NECI users.

For Elsa Mathei, director of the project, “Vozes de Barão” aims to “reinforce visibility for the importance of inclusive and participatory art, aiming to make a contribution to the equitable appreciation of all people who make up the local community of Lagos ».

«On the other hand, the aim is to provide the individual with affirmation, through artistic language, reinforcing their self-esteem, through their capacity for achievement and consequent recognition by their peers and the rest of the community», he added.

The Gatilho project has artistic direction by Albina Petrolati and community intervention direction provided by Nuno Murta and is developed in partnership with the Lagos City Council and with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and “La Caixa” Foundation.

From the program, in addition to the Gatilho performance and the Cantar initiative, with the choral group Coro da Gente, from Barão de São João, directed by André Pacheco, a sound installation is planned, by Nuno Murta, and the Cianotipia exhibitions, guided by Patrícia Leal, from Visual Arts, guided by Ricardo Cruzes, and photography, relating to the Gatilho family workshop-tour, guided by Patrícia Leal, and the free photographic tour by Barão de São João.

«At the end, the public is invited to taste some traditional cakes, made by ladies from Barão de S. João, accompanied by the famous mulled wine (Glühwein)», concluded Questão Repetida.
