Magnitude 4.0 earthquake felt in Évora, Almeirim and Ponte de Sor

Did not cause material or personal damage

An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 (Richter), whose epicenter was located approximately 14 km northeast of Vendas Novas, registered at the Continente Seismic Network stations this Monday, December 25th, at 21:02 pm (local time).

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) reveals that the earthquake “did not cause personal or material damage”, but was felt with maximum intensity IV/V (modified Mercalli scale) in the municipalities of Évora and Almeirim (district of Santarém) . It was also felt with less intensity in the municipality of Ponte de Sor (Portalegre district).
