PSP arrests 77 drunk drivers and 40 without a license between Friday and Sunday

The police seized more than 430 individual doses of drugs, six firearms and 12 bladed weapons (knives)

Between Friday and Sunday, the PSP detained 77 drunk drivers and 40 without legal driving licenses, as part of the “Safe Parties” operation, which resulted in seven serious injuries in 478 accidents in the last three days.

According to the balance of the operation released today by the National Directorate of the PSP for the period from 22 to 24 December, 29 people were also arrested for theft and robbery, three for possession of a prohibited weapon and eight on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Between Friday and Sunday, the PSP recorded 478 accidents on the roads under its jurisdiction, which caused 147 injuries, seven of which were serious.

Since the “Safe Parties” operation began on December 15, the PSP has recorded two deaths on the roads, but none between Friday and Sunday.

In the last three days, the PSP inspected 4.738 vehicles and controlled 17.120 by radar, having identified 1.728 infractions, including speeding (602), lack of periodic inspection (91), driving under the influence of alcohol (42), lack of insurance ( 25) and misuse of cell phones (25).

The 77 drunk people who were arrested were driving with a blood alcohol level considered a crime.

The PSP’s “Safe Parties” 2023/2024 operation ends on January 02nd.
