Project improved visiting conditions at the Castro Marim and VRSA Sapal Natural Reserve

The objective was to requalify local visitor support infrastructure

A new exhibition, the renovation of two walking routes and much more. An “innovative” project, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), improved the conditions for visiting the Sapal de Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Natural Reserve.

In a consortium of entities, led by the Odiana Association, the ICNF and the Municipalities of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, entities that are part of the Co-management Commission of the Sapal de Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Natural Reserve (RNSCMVRSA), seized the initiative with the aim of requalifying local visitor support infrastructure.

Among the main improvements, the Information and Interpretation Center was re-equipped as the main “entry point” of RNSCMVRSA, namely with a new immersive exhibition and sound and image equipment in the auditorium and the creation of two “entry doors” at the tourist offices in Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.

Added to this is the development of a module in the Mobile Application (APP) Lost Stories – Folklore & History, developed by the University of Algarve and the requalification of the “Tradicional Salinas” and “Cerro do Bufo” Walking Routes.

Furthermore, this Thursday, December 21st, at the Venta Moinhos Interpretive Center, the inauguration of the new exhibition will take place, which will be attended by the Secretary of State for Nature Conservation and Forests.
