The now traditional first sea swim of the year, on January 1st, in Ferragudo, will move from Praia do Pintadinho, where it took place for 15 years, to Praia Grande. This was the decision taken after an online public consultation, announced the Parish Council, which promotes the initiative.
The change is due to the reduction in parking spaces near Pintadinho, congestion on the beach access road and difficulties in accessing the sand safely.
During the bath on January 1st this year, more than 400 people went, as bathers or onlookers, to the area, creating circulation difficulties and obstructing roads, recalls the municipality of Ferragudo.
After the consultation, which was carried out online between November 1st and December 8th, the chosen space for sea bathing in 2024 was Praia Grande, with 66% of the votes.
The dive takes place at 11 am. There will be entertainment and t-shirts and hot cocoa will be distributed to bathers.
The event has the support of Club Nau, one of Praia Grande's restaurants.
