Brazilian partners from the InovaJuntos project visited the Algarve

The visit included knowledge exchange and cooperation initiatives

Representatives from 15 Brazilian cities and other Latin American countries were in the Algarve, until this Wednesday, December 13th, as part of the “InovaJuntos” project. 

The visit included knowledge exchange and cooperation initiatives, through technical visits. The participants were divided into five thematic itineraries, with AMAL, as a partner of InovaJuntos, accompanying the invited entities within the scope of the itinerary on the theme of Shared Purchasing and Consortiums/Municipalities.

In this context, the Algarve Intermunicipal Community Purchasing Center was made known, in a session that took place at AMAL, in person and online, and which included the participation of politicians and technical staff with responsibilities in the area of ​​public purchasing, whether from Portuguese entities (namely from the municipalities of the Algarve and AMAL), and from Brazilian partners on this topic (APIS and CISGA).

Furthermore, a Technical and Institutional Cooperation Agreement was signed between AMAL and the Brazilian entities APIS (Public Agency for Intermunicipal Services of the European Valley) and CISGA (Consórcio Intermunicipal de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da Serra Gaúcha), in the field of shared purchases.

This international cooperation mission takes place in a total of seven Portuguese cities (Faro, Olhão, Coimbra, Guimarães, Oeiras, Valongo and Cascais) and ends this Friday, December 15th, in Oeiras and when the results of the mission will be presented.

InovaJuntos – Triangular Urban Cooperation for Innovation and Sustainability aims to respond to the need to strengthen the capacity of local authorities to implement innovative and sustainable public policies in Brazil, Portugal and Latin American countries, promoting an environment of collaboration from the exchanging know-how and sharing local solutions on the major challenges that affect the quality of life of contemporary populations. Bringing together experiences from Brazil and Portugal, the project expands the scope of actions and strengthens regional integration, in addition to reinforcing dialogue between countries.

Under the coordination of the National Confederation of Municipalities (Brazil) and the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (Portugal), the project runs until the end of 2024 and is co-financed by the European Union, through “External Action Support Program”.
