GNR detained 105 drunk drivers and 42 without a license between Friday and Saturday

Operation Christmas and New Year 2023/2024 started on December 15th and ends on January 2nd

Between Friday and Saturday, GNR detained 105 drunk drivers and 42 without legal license to drive, as part of the Christmas and New Year operation, having detected 3.684 road traffic offences.

In a statement released today, the GNR states that it inspected 17.716 drivers, of which 200 were driving with excess alcohol, and detained 105 with a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 1,2 grams per liter, considered a crime.

According to provisional data, 42 people were also arrested for driving without a license.

Among the administrative offenses identified, the GNR highlights speeding (1.305), lack of periodic inspection (327), absence or incorrect use of seat belts or child seats (121), lack of insurance (100 ) and misuse of cell phones (97).

In the same period, GNR soldiers recorded 521 accidents on the roads, resulting in 10 serious injuries and 157 minor injuries.

GNR's Christmas and New Year 2023/2024 operation began on December 15th and ends on January 2nd.
