Exhibition of the Sapal Natural Reserve inaugurated by the Secretary of State

Exhibition opened on the 21st

The new permanent exhibition of the Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António marsh natural reserve (RNSCMVRSA) was inaugurated on December 21st by the Secretary of State for Nature Conservation and Forests.

The objective of this initiative is «to provide visitors with a deep understanding of the dynamics of its ecosystem and the way in which the natural, cultural and heritage space of the territory is organized, is the main objective of this exhibition».

This action is part of a set of initiatives financed by the Environmental Fund, within the scope of the Resilience Recovery Plan (PRR), an investment of around 150 thousand euros.

 

 

«This is a project that will have a lot of emphasis on the school community in this region and on raising awareness of the community towards its natural heritage», highlighted the president of the Co-management Commission Francisco Amaral, stressing that «the first steps have been taken” and that , based on this management model, «we will be closer to the Living Reserve we want».

The inauguration was also attended by the President of the Natural Reserve Co-management Commission and President of the Municipality of Castro Marim, Francisco Amaral, the Director of the Institute for Conservation of Nature and Forests of the Algarve, Nuno Banza, and other representatives and directors of the entities that make up the Co-management Commission, such as the Mértola Heritage Defense Association, the Odiana Association, the Municipality of VRSA, the Terras de Sal Cooperative, the Guadiana Naval Association and AMAL.
