Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura (CIV) donated 10.600 euros to four charitable causes this Christmas season.

Quarteira Social Cafeteria (3600 euros), Martim Cruz, patient with dystonic tetraparesis – cerebral palsy (5000 euros), The Big Hand project (1500 euros) and the Mãozinhas Solidárias association (500 euros) are the four charitable causes to which the community school provides support this year.

In addition, CIV staff also sponsored 30 children and five grandparents, supported by the Mãozinhas Solidárias association, with gifts and basic necessities.

As a result of the Christmas Fair, the food stalls organized by the various classes and the student association (SRC), and the food and used clothing collection campaigns, food items were also distributed to the Existir Association Food Bank; clothes, toys and school supplies to the Quarteira Social Cafeteria.

Finally, within the scope of the “Solidarity begins at home” campaign, by Cáritas Diocesana Algarve, the CIV managed to gather and deliver 180 shoe gift boxes full of gifts intended for children in need in the region to whom Cáritas provides support.

«Committed to humanist values, and certain that changing the world begins with each one of us, through individual contributions to promoting solidarity values, a culture of peace, active citizenship and relationships with others, the community of CIV reiterates, annually, its commitment to institutions, projects and people that count on our support», says Cidália Ferreira Bicho, pedagogical director of CIV.

«The involvement of everyone in the campaigns, contributing time, energy, food or gifts, is the realization of an educational project supported by humanism! This is an example of how small gestures from many people transform the world! We thank everyone for their generosity and we also thank the support of Loulé City Council, the Quarteira Parish Council, Inframoura and all the individuals and companies that contributed to the raffle prizes. Together we contributed significantly to making Christmas more welcoming for many families», he adds.
