Portimão City Council extends period for applications for supported rental

Those interested in applying for supported rental in Portimão will have more time to do so, after the Portimão City Council decided to extend the application deadline until March 25, 2024.

At issue is the competition for the allocation of 414 homes under supported rental, to be built in the areas of Coca Maravilhas and Cabeço do Mocho and intended for families with housing needs.

The extension of the deadline for another 60 working days, which was decided at a Chamber meeting on November 22nd, took into account the fact that, to date, 378 applications have been received.

«The measure aims to allow the participation of interested national and foreign citizens, as long as they hold a valid permanent residence permit in the national territory, over 18 years of age, resident in the municipality of Portimão for five years or more, uninterruptedly, and registered here », explained Portimão City Council.

In addition to these factors, «the value of the candidate's net monthly income per capita must not exceed 1,5 of the social support index, and cannot be covered by any legal impediment».

The 414 dwellings to be made available for supported leasing will be built in two areas of the city of Portimão, according to the following typologies: Coca Maravilhas (23 T1, 140 T2 and 41 T3), in a total of 204 dwellings, and Cabeço do Mocho (194 T1 and 16 T4), in a total of 210 dwellings.

 

 

The lease contract is concluded for ten years and the value of the rent will be determined “by applying an effort rate to the adjusted monthly income of the household, and the amount cannot be less than 2 percent of the IAS – Indexing of Social Support in force”.

Applications must be delivered in a closed envelope, indicating the designation of the competitive procedure outside, both to the Housing, Social Development and Health Division, of the Portimão City Council (Praça 1.º de Maio, in the period between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm), such as at Balcão Único Municipal (Rua do Comércio, 31, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm), or by post, via registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, within the deadline fixed for this purpose.

The formalization of the application is carried out by submitting a specific application, made available by the City Council, to which all the instructional documents must be attached, which can be consulted here.

This competition is part of the Local Housing Strategy (ELH) 2020-2030 of the Municipality of Portimão, «structured within an integrated perspective, and it is expected that by 2026 the municipality will invest around 85 million euros, with the construction of eight hundred of dwellings and the rehabilitation of 582 dwellings».

Within the scope of the 1st Law Program and the collaboration agreement established between the municipality of Portimão and the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, «an investment of close to 2025 million euros is planned by 70, with the construction of 572 dwellings, which will have a cost of around 38 million euros for the 414 dwellings related to the competition whose deadline has now been extended».
