The initiative "Faro. We Are All” will return this year, with prizes for those who buy from local businesses and the chance to win a car.

Similar to what has been happening during the Christmas season since 2020, the Municipality will reactivate this initiative again.

Thus, three draws will also be held to award monetary prizes totaling 20 thousand euros and also a vehicle: the first draw will take place on the 8th of December (5 thousand euros), the second will take place on the 15th (5 thousand euros) and the third and last, on the 22nd, will draw 10 thousand euros in prizes and a small vehicle.

This year, one of the new features is the award of 30 thousand prizes in scratch cards (tickets for the F festival, tickets for the Teatro das Figuras, vouchers for use at the Nautical Center, among other prizes).

In parallel, from the 1st to the 24th, a diverse program of Christmas activities will be organized, with the epicenter of downtown Faro, namely with the arrival of Santa Claus at Jardim Manuel Bivar, on the 1st, at 10:30 am, and the reopening of Casa do Santa Claus, which will operate this year at Rua Tenente Valadim, nº 14, a Christmas market that will take place from 7 on December 23rd at Jardim Manuel Bívar, or the launch of a new book and stickers of As Aventuras dos Farrobinhas and also a board game dedicated to the theme of Civil Protection.

At the same time, the Municipality of Faro The Christmas lights will be switched on this Thursday, November 30th, covering roughly the same areas as the previous year. Also similar to the previous year, the municipality will again implement energy saving measures in this context, particularly considering LED lighting reasons and a reduction in the connection period, between 18pm and midnight.

To Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, this set of initiatives, as well as the expanded Christmas program, «aims to give a signal of support to families and the economy, particularly local commerce and restaurants, promoting the circular economy but also attracting and captivating new visitors and tourists to our municipality”.

In addition, the Municipality will offer a Christmas gift to children and young people in the municipality with the award of shopping vouchers worth 25 euros to all students in pre-school and 1st cycle education and to students benefiting from grade A and B attending the 2nd and 3rd cycles and secondary education of public, private or cooperative education for consumption in participating establishments, for a total of 6.900 children and young people.

The initiative has a partnership with the Algarve Commerce and Services Associations (ACRAL), Commercial Development of the Historic Area of Faro (ADCZHF), the Hotel and Similar Industries of the Algarve (AIHSA) and Cultural and Activist of Baixa de Faro (ACABF).
