Tavira celebrates 10 years since the inscription of the Mediterranean Diet as Heritage

With activities between the 1st and 4th of December

Tavira will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Portuguese inscription of the Mediterranean Diet on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list, between the 1st and 4th of December. 

The recognition of the Mediterranean Diet in Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Croatia took place on December 4, 2013, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

To mark this date, the municipality of Tavira, in collaboration with several partners, prepared a program that includes craft shows, gastronomic demonstrations, concerts, an archa-tour and a round table under the theme “A decade of Mediterranean Diet, and now?".

In a note, the Tavira municipality says that the distinction of the Mediterranean Diet as intangible cultural heritage of the Mediterranean Diet reinforces, together with scientific evidence, «the need to preserve and promote this lifestyle based on a strong cultural, historical and cultural heritage. health".
