The Municipal Swimming Pools of São Brás de Alportel have been working for 15 years «towards the development of sports, the promotion of health and the well-being of the community», an anniversary that was marked on Wednesday, the 22nd.
This was, recalled the municipal executive, «a fundamental investment that marked the beginning of the implementation of the Sports and Leisure Park and achieved a new paradigm in the development and quality of life of São Brás de Alportel».
«It is with great pride and satisfaction that we mark the 15 years of operation of this municipal sports equipment which, year after year, has been serving the São Brasense community, always with the concern of providing the best conditions and greatest comfort for its users. . In these 15 years, many people have passed through the Covered Municipal Swimming Pools of São Brás de Alportel, which are remembered by many as the place where they learned to swim, where they overcame their limits, overcame some limitations and where they achieved the goals they set. Moments that motivate the Municipality and its technicians to continue this work and improve services», according to Vítor Guerreiro, president of the Municipal Council of São Brás de Alportel.
Located in the Municipality's Sports and Leisure Park, this sports facility already has 9.938 users and has had close to 348 accesses, with the only interregnum being the summer periods, in which the Uncovered Municipal Swimming Pools are activated and the contingency period in due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Equipped with a 25-meter competition pool, with six lanes and a learning pool, as well as a Turkish Bath, Sauna, a massage center, a medical center, four changing rooms and reception, this sports facility has been the place of choice of São Brasenses of all age groups for learning, practicing regular or competitive sports. A meeting point for sport and well-being.
In addition to free use, several modalities are currently taught at the complex: classes for babies, adaptation to the aquatic environment, learning, improvement, pre-competition, water aerobics, aquafitness, hydrotherapy, adaptation to the aquatic environment for adults, learning for adults, improvement for adults and also what is fundamental: activities for citizens with disabilities and it is also possible to visit the swimming pools through the free use regime.
The municipal technician responsible for the area of sport, Paulo Silva, highlights that «this is equipment that has excelled in promoting the practice of differentiated physical education, allowing the population not only to learn, but also to improve their physical condition and health. The Municipality has sought to adapt the space in search of the best conditions for sports and user comfort, alongside concern with the implementation of measures for water and energy efficiency».
The Covered Municipal Swimming Pools of São Brás de Alportel are open on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 13:30 pm and from 15:00 pm to 21:00 pm; and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 9:00 am and 13:30 pm and between 15:00 pm and 21:00 pm. On Saturdays they open from 9:00 am to 19:00 pm.
