Loulé consigns water and sewage works in Pereiras, in Almancil

Work will serve 400 people

The work to create a water and sewage network in Pereiras, in Almancil, which will benefit around 400 people, was approved yesterday, Monday, by Loulé City Council.

The intervention will be carried out in the “Pequeno Mundo” restaurant area and the International School, an area of dispersed housing.

The work will allow “the supply of quality drinking water to populations residing in the area, throughout the year. Regarding the drainage of domestic wastewater, the work envisages the construction of a new domestic wastewater pumping station and the optimization of the sewage network with the deactivation of the existing pumping station on “Estrada das Escanxinas”».

In total, the length of the water supply and domestic wastewater drainage networks in this intervention will be approximately 4920 and 5180 meters respectively.

The value of the project amounts to 1,2 million euros and the execution period is one year, «but the schedule could be shorter».

During the week, the shipyard will be installed, followed by the start of works, carried out by Hridalgar, a company that was also responsible, a few years ago, for the work carried out in Escanxinas, another area in the western part of Almancil.

According to Joaquim Pinto, president of the Almancil Council, the work now committed “has been an aspiration of this population for many years. With this work, practically the entire western side of the parish is now served by sanitation».

According to Vítor Aleixo, this is «another project that the Municipal Council of Loulé has underway, in the vast territory of the municipality of Loulé», including the one that was launched about a month ago, in Cerro do Galo, also in parish of Almancil.

«Work is also ongoing in Alte and, within a week, work will begin in Vale Telheiro. In Lagoa de Momprolé, the work for the water and sewage network has also been awarded and is just awaiting approval from the Court of Auditors», lists the Loulé Chamber.

«There is a great effort here by the CML to continue its policy of bringing water and sewage to as many housing units as possible, this is the resolution of a basic right», concluded Vítor Aleixo.
