Lavrar o Mar serves a “Paradise” of dance, music and food in Monchique and Aljezur

In the next two weekends

A «condensed dance, music and food» will be served at the “Paraíso” show/dinner, an initiative by Lavrar o Mar that will take place over the next two weekends, in Monchique and Aljezur.

Tomorrow, Saturday (19:30 pm), and Sunday, the 18th and 19th (12:30 pm), the show will be presented at Casa do Povo de Alferce, in the municipality of Monchique.

On the 25th and 26th, at 19:30 pm and 12:39 pm, respectively, “Paraíso” can be enjoyed at Rancho Folclórica do Rogil, in Aljezur.

«This project was born in the lands of Savoy and brings with it a heritage: the wisdom of making the best of lives using what is missing, what we don't have, what there is and what isn't – water, food, work, money. Scarcity as a form of wealth and the certainty of how to live with little can make the most sense. It results from a unique meeting with older people from Sabóia, Santa Clara-a-Velha, in the Odemira mountain range, young people who also live there, and a group of artists and cooks», describes Lavrar o Mar.

In this show «people will be spoken to and there will be music, sounds and singing that flood the space with meanings filled with contradiction, but also with mutuality, hospitality, symbiosis and partnership».

“Paraíso” is the result of an idea by Madalena Victorino, responsible for the creation, dramaturgy and choreography, and features original music by Nuno Salvado and text excerpts by Afonso Cruz.

Tickets cost 12 euros for adults and 6 euros for children between 6 and 11 years old and can be purchased online or at Casa Lavrar o Mar, at Rua João Dias Mendes, 46, in Aljezur.
