José Luís Carneiro, current Minister of Internal Administration, presented his candidacy for the leadership of the PS this Saturday, November 11th, at the headquarters of PS Coimbra.
José Luís Carneiro, candidate for general secretary of the PS in the direct internal elections, which will take place on the 15th and 16th of December, promised to be a “fraternal and available comrade” for the “aggrandizement of the common political project” and stated that he is moving towards “ guarantee security, stability and investment to the country”, promising that “he will bring dialogue to his party and political activity”.
«In such difficult times, I am a convinced supporter of democratic socialism. I consider myself, above all, a democrat. I am aware of the magnitude of the challenge and the magnitude of the country's problems", he stated.
The current Minister of Internal Administration also left a “very sincere” tribute to António Costa, for a life “dedicated to socialist ideas”, and thanked the Prime Minister for the trust he placed in choosing him for several positions.
For now, it is known that the only opponent will be Pedro Nuno Santos, who is expected to present his candidacy on Monday.
