Organ Festival continues with four concerts in Portimão, Boliqueime and Faro

Concerts in churches are free of charge and do not require prior reservation

The Algarve Organ Festival will have four concerts, from Friday to Sunday, 10th to 12th November, in Portimão, Boliqueime and Faro. 

On Friday, the Festival unfolds between Portimão and Boliqueime.

Organist Daniel Nunes and saxophonist Rui Piques were invited to Portimão's Main Church, who will perform works by Stanley, Brahms, Piazzolla, Scott, Guerreiro, Ellington and Vangelis. Daniel Nunes studied Organ at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, in the Netherlands.

He completed his master's degree in performance at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Rui Piques received his training at the Ponta Delgada Regional Conservatory and the Espinho Professional Music School. He has a degree in Saxophone from the University of Aveiro.

At the Parish Church of Boliqueime, the offer includes a concert program by organist Pedro Monteiro, PhD in Musical Theory and Analysis, from the Portuguese Catholic University.

Graduated in Sacred Music (Choir and Organ Conducting) from the School of Arts at UCP-Porto. Master's degree in Musicology from the University of Valladolid and attended postgraduate studies in Organ – concert diploma – at the Escola Superior de Música Sacra de Regensburg. The program includes Iberian music, with Tientos, Consonâncias, Ensaladas, Canções, Xácaras and Batalhas.

On Saturday, November 11th, organist Daniel Nunes and saxophonist Rui Piques head to Igreja do Carmo in Faro with a new program, which crosses ancient music and modern music, highlighting works by Eugene Bozza and Carlos Paredes.

On Sunday, the 12th, at 18pm, the attention falls on Pedro Monteiro and the Orquestra do Algarve, who will perform at Teatro das Figuras (Faro) concertos by GF Handel for organ, symphonies by Carlos Seixas and WF Bach and cantatas by JS Bach. A positive organ will be used, kindly provided by the Cathedral of Santarém.

Concerts in churches are free of charge and do not require prior reservation. The show at Teatro das Figuras costs 10 euros.

The Algarve Organ Festival 2023 has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, the Municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Portimão and Tavira, from the Luxembourg agency Kultur LX, with support for publicity from the Algarve Tourism Region, with communication partners Antena 2, Sul Informação and RUA FM and with the accommodation partner Hotel Faro.

It also has a partnership with the Diocese of Algarve, the Cabido da Sé de Faro, of the Order of Carmo of Faro, the Parishes of Portimão, Boliqueime and Tavira and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Tavira.
