The Mini COP competition, which in 2023 received a total of 166 ideas, «aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on topics such as the circular economy, water, energy, biodiversity, mobility, waste or the protection of the oceans», according to Portimão City Council.

Inspired by the negotiating process of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, «the Mini COP's essential purpose was to raise awareness of active citizenship in the field of sustainable development».

The Mini COP and the Climate Trip are an initiative of Cooler World – a movement towards carbon neutrality created by Get2C, a consultancy specializing in climate change that has the support of the Environmental Fund, among other entities, in order to mobilize Portuguese society to the urgent climate transition.
