This year's DiVaM program ends this Sunday, December 3rd, with the screening, at 16pm, of the documentary “A Fortaleza dos Pescadores”, at the Sagres Fortress.

This is a project by ATGDM – Association of Lands and People of the Mediterranean Diet.

«The work mainly addresses the relationship between fishermen and Fortaleza and the various phases this relationship has gone through. If, before 1997, the Fortaleza had its doors open 24 hours a day, allowing cane fishing at any time, a change of direction in the destination and management of the monument changed reality and created moments of tension with the local community, especially with fishermen", reads the synopsis.

The documentary, conceived between June and November, was directed and filmed by Ana Medeira, with a script by Fúlvia Almeida, original music by Diogo Russo and aerial images by Carlos Neto.

Entry is free, subject to reservation via email: [email protected]

DiVaM 2023 had as its theme “(Un)comfortable Heritage” and took, to the monuments linked to DRCAlg (Sagres Fortress, Hermitage of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Roman Ruins of Milreu), 13 projects, from 12 cultural agents, in the areas of cinema, music, performances, circus art, workshops and conversations at monuments.

The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe hosts, on Tuesday, December 5th, between 14pm and 00pm, an Empreita workshop, promoted by Avonde – Associação Cultural.

The construction workshop is aimed at the senior community of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Bispo and will be guided by Manuela Caneco.

Furthermore, the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg) will mark the 8th anniversary of the attribution of the European Heritage Label (MPE) to the Sagres Promontory, on Saturday, December 2nd, with the multimedia concert “Memória da Paisagem ”, in the auditorium of the Sagres Fortress.
