The 563rd anniversary of the death of Infante D. Henrique (13 November 1460) will be marked by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, through its organic unit Fortaleza de Sagres and Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, in partnership with the Municipality of Vila of the Bishop and the Parish of Sagres.
The program runs from the 12th to the 19th of November and includes music, performance, visits to the Sagres Fortress Exhibition Center and a mass, «in accordance with the wishes expressed in the Infante's will».
On Sunday, November 12th, the auditorium of the Sagres Fortress will host, at 16pm, the concert “BARROCO: From Continuous Bass to Electronic Music”, presented by Coletivo Garbe, which is composed of musicians Joana Godinho (mezzo soprano), Daniela Tomaz (baroque flute), Daniela Pinhel (oboe and English horn) and Vasco Ramalho (marimba mallet station).
The show will also feature the presence of a guest artist, Catarina Melo, on the harpsichord.
According to the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, this will be a concert commented within its historical-cultural context, and which presents a repertoire of baroque music, «from its most historical conception to a contemporary interpretation, through the use of instruments modern, digital and electronics. A drink will be served during the concert break, with wine on offer from Quinta do Barranco Longo».
Promoted by O Corvo e a Raposa Associação Cultural, the concert is supported by PAACA – Cultural Action Support Program of the Algarve Regional Directorate of Culture.

On the day of the 563rd anniversary of the death of Infante Dom Henrique, A Mass of Suffrage will be celebrated for his soul at 10:30 am, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Vila de Sagres. This will be followed, at 11:30 am, by the laying of a wreath next to his statue, in the same location, by the Municipality of Vila do Bispo.
Also on November 13th, DRCAlg promotes two guided visits to the Fortaleza de Sagres Exhibition Center, at 14:30 pm and 16:00 pm. These visits are free and subject to prior registration (limit of 15 people per group) via email: [email protected].
The end of the program that invokes the memory of Infante D. Henrique takes place on November 19th, at 15:30 pm, with the “Concert and Performance: 2×1+X Classical Music Concert and Painting Performance”, at the Ermida de Nossa Senhora of Guadeloupe. This show is part of Projeto ELA, Ensemble Livre do Algarve, a youth female artistic collective and has as performers the artists Carina Candeias (guitar), Rita Coelho (piano) and Luana Fernandes (painting). It is a synesthetic concert, in which music and painting are protagonists.
The structure promoting the show is ALMA – Associação Livre de Música e Artes and the production is by Associação AORCA. It also has the support of Susana Rebelo and Sofia Brito, in production by Associação AORCA.
