A man who was stopped by the Tavira PSP for driving the wrong way on a city street ended up being arrested for vehicle theft and refueling without payment at a gas station.
In a preventive patrol action, officers from the Tavira police station detected a car traveling in the opposite direction and intercepted it.
The 35-year-old driver was the target of routine inspections, which made it clear that the vehicle had been stolen in the north of the country. The suspect also refused to take an alcohol test, “facts that led to his arrest”.
«In subsequent investigations, it was also possible to determine that he had filled up the vehicle at an establishment in the center of the country, abandoning it without making any payment», according to the PSP.
The stolen vehicle was seized for later return to its rightful owner.
