«In the Algarve, in December, it was customary to set up the nativity scene and the “altarinho” of a popular nature. In the houses, on top of the chest of drawers, raised to the center on steps, the baby Jesus was placed, surrounded by grains, oranges and other fruits, wishes of bread and prosperity for the family. A very old tradition that seems to date back in the Algarve at least to the Middle Ages», describes the CIIP of Cacela.

«In this Workshop, each participant will finish and dress their baby Jesus, create a small altar and sow seeds with wheat in tin cans, so that at home they can set up their Algarve nativity scene, gathering oranges and other fruits from the Algarve», he concluded.
