Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Portimão celebrates 97 years

The Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Portimão celebrated its 26th anniversary this Sunday, November 97th.  

The celebration program started at 8:30 am, with the usual “Dawn” ringing and the raising of flags in greeting to the population, followed by the tribute to the deceased Firefighters and the Mass of suffrage in the Main Church, at 11:00 am.

From 14:30 pm onwards, a general graduation ceremony for the Fire Department took place, to welcome guests in front of the fire station.

Afterwards, the protocol ceremonies began, at the barracks' interior parade, where the entire population began to watch the event, including the inauguration of new operational means, with two emergency ambulances, to reinforce the response in the context of the pre-emergency. -hospital, an intervention motorcycle that will increase response capacity and mobility typology, among other means and resources that result from the re-equipment plan and become available to the operational structure.

Furthermore, the inauguration of works to requalify the sports pavilion at the barracks stands out, «which guarantees adequate space for the activity and maintenance of the physical condition of firefighters».

The improvements carried out also include replacing the flooring and lighting, the investment of which was fully supported by the Humanitarian Association and which included work carried out by Fire Department operators.

The formal session was attended by official entities, regional and local. The program ended at 17pm, with a birthday cake and a “Portimão de Honra” in the vehicle park.
