Ana Abrunhosa visits work to expand the Misericórdia de São Brás de Alportel home

Visit took place on November 21st

Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion, was this Tuesday, November 21st, at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de São Brás de Alportel, where expansion and remodeling work is underway on the Residential Structure Building for Elderly People (ERPI), Day Center and Home Support Service.

The work includes the construction from scratch of a new area that will allow the Misericórdia's reception capacity to be expanded with 11 new double rooms, accompanied by a living room and activities and support compartments. Another part of the existing area will be preserved and remodeled to ensure greater comfort for users.

The execution of this project foresees the expansion of capacity to 85 beds and the provision of an agreement to be signed with Social Security for this capacity, with the authority hoping that this number can be increased in the future to respond to the growing need for this vital support for families .

The works involve an investment of more than 3,5 million euros, which is funded by the European Union, through the Portugal 2020 – CRESC Algarve program, as well as the Rainha D. Leonor Fund and the São Brás de Alportel Municipal Council, which aims to «increase the quality of services provided by the institution and the capacity to respond to the number of users supported and provide them with better comfort conditions, as well as the creation of new jobs».
