the center of Algarve Congresses, at Vilamoura Marina, will host the International Council of Marine Industry (ICOMIA) World Marina Conference, between the 9th and 11th of October, organized by Portuguese Association of Recreational Ports (APPR).
The conference will have the motto “Big Challenges – Big Decisions” and will bring together around 400 participants, including the main operators, owners and managers of marinas in the world, representatives of government agencies, consultants, designers, among others linked to the sector.
The opening session will be attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Mayor of Loulé, among other entities.
Reflection sessions cover asset management, maintenance and benchmarking, risk mitigation, environmental leadership and climate change, technology and other current topics, highlighting the challenges, trends and best practices in the nautical sector through the voices of experts from different nationalities.
The second day of the Conference will be dedicated to visits to some of the main marinas in the south of the country, namely Vilamoura, Albufeira and Lagos.

Participants will have the opportunity to establish contact with leading professionals in the sector, obtain practical information on sustainability, customer expectations, technology that drives smart marinas, operational innovations and developments in infrastructure, facilities and equipment.

Portugal hosts the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference for the first time, winning the competition that included the participation of candidates from Europe and the United States. The last edition took place in Dubai, in 2021.
The Conference is a biennial event and this edition at Vilamoura Marina includes the exhibition of the latest innovations in products and services especially aimed at marinas, including clubs, shipyards and dry docks.
