Teatro Só launches program to “unrest” culture in Odemira

Teatro Só launches, on Sunday, the cultural program “Desassossega”, which will run until January 2024 in the municipality of Odemira, to “value traditions and new contemporaneities”.

The initiative, which has the Chamber of Odemira as a strategic partner and funding provided by the Directorate-General for the Arts, “arises from the need to create new centers for access to culture and the enjoyment of the arts”, explained the company, in a statement sent to the agency Lusa.

The project was “designed with care to actively involve communities, valuing the traditions and new contemporaneities that make up the region”, with “landscape and memory as its motto”, adds Teatro Só, which is based in Odemira and Berlin ( Germany).

The “Desassossega” cultural program starts on Sunday, at the Odemira municipal market, which between 13pm and 00pm will host an “Artists' Market”, with an exhibition and sale of works by local artists.

The initiative will also feature the performance of storyteller Jorge Serafim, who will present “Contopias”, and the Grupo Coral Infantil de Odemira, in addition to puppet shows “François Blanc”, by the Dutchman Steven Luca, and a Chinese circus-mast “ Une Partie de Soi”, from the company O Último Momento.

Guilherme Ferreira will present the living statue show “Cantor Romântico”, Jean Philippe Kikolas will present the circus and comedy show “Sin Remite”, Cristina Casadio & Stefan Sing will present the dance show “Tangram” and the Soul Beat group will perform dances traditional Nepalese.

The “Desassossega” program continues, on November 12th, at the Camacho Costa cinema, in Odemira, with the Kulu Orr company presenting the circus, music, humor and technology show “Control Freak” on stage.

Alongside the shows, on the 13th and 14th of October, a training session on the management and production of cultural and artistic projects is planned, with Joana Ferreira and Manuel Henriques, which will take place at the municipal library.

Between the 03rd and 05th of November, a workshop on theater in public spaces will take place, with trainers from Teatro Só.

The cultural program “Desassossega” also includes the artistic project with the “Vereda” community, which between the 02nd and 09th of December will develop, in the CRIAR space, in Odemira, the action “Listen – Sounds that draw landscape”, directed artistic work by Nuno Torres.

Finally, from January 26th to 28th, the Camacho Costa cinema will host the presentation of the production “Sou eu?!”, with artistic direction by Sérgio Fernandes and which is the result of a partnership between Teatro Só and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Odemira.
