The Municipality of Tavira signed a collaboration protocol with the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II that aims to disseminate and create artistic, cultural and educational activities in the field of performing arts, as well as promoting citizenship and democratizing access to the arts and culture.
The first collaboration resulted in the hosting of the “Odisseia Nacional” project, which foresees, for Tavira, three programs [Peças- spectacles; Fruits – activity for the school public and Acts – participation projects).
In this sense, within the scope of the Atos program, the “Observatório dos Rios” project will take place, an initiative by the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
This project includes five sensory and visual sessions, organized by the Guarda Rios collective, on different issues linked to rivers, ecosystems and water management on the planet.
The first session, “Water and the planet”, takes place on October 7th, between 16pm and 00pm, at the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center. Anyone who wants to participate can register here.
This session aims to “promote debate about who will have access to fresh water in the future, the desertification of the territory or the impact of rising sea levels”, says the municipality.
In addition to this session, four more are planned: on the 11th, between 18pm and 00pm, “When the river meets the sea”, on the 20th, from 00pm to 14pm, “Life in the bed of a river”, day 16th, from 00pm to 18pm, “Knowledge of the river”, and on the 00th, from 18pm to 18pm, “Arrival at the mouth”.
The result of these five actions will be publicly presented on the 21st and 22nd of this month.
The “National Odyssey” project democratizes the theatrical offering and aims to portray key dimensions of cultural activity in Portugal, seeking, through theater, to create an in-depth reflection on the different realities, promote territorial cohesion and leave a foundation for the future.
