Deluge afternoon ends with Moncarapachense eliminated from the Cup by Vitória

After the elimination of Farense, the Algarve is left with only one representative in the Portuguese Cup: Portimonense

Moncarapachense was eliminated this Sunday, October 22, from the Portuguese Cup, after losing 1-3 against Vitória de Guimarães, at the Algarve Stadium. The game was interrupted due to rain and wind.

It was the 31st minute when Tiago Martins was forced to stop the game. The weather conditions made it impossible for the ball to roll at the Algarve Stadium.

On the scoreboard, Vitória already won by three. The first goal was scored by Tomás Ribeiro, in the 14th minute, after a corner taken from the right and a lot of confusion in the area.

There was a lot of rain, but it didn't stop Vitória from scoring two more goals: in the 19th minute, by Tomas Handel, with a free kick taken by himself, and in the 25th minute, by Jota Silva, in a half-turn shot.

When the referee stopped the game, the general idea was that there would be no turning back, given that it was still raining. However, during the 30 minutes of stopping required by regulations, the weather calmed down.

The match would be resumed and soon with a goal for Moncarapachense, from a penalty, scored by Edu Souza (40′). The Algarvians would smile again, when, at 45′, the referee sent off Vitória's captain.

In the second half, little happened: Moncarapachense failed to prevail and Vitória knew how to manage the match.

After the elimination of Farense, the Algarve is left with only one representative in the Portuguese Cup: Portimonense.
