Olhão will have “Arte Larga” and well-known names in culture for 10 days

One of the highlights of the program is the naming of the Municipal Auditorium after Maria Barroso Soares

Books and their authors, but also music, visual and performing arts are part of “Arte Larga”, which Olhão will host between the 3rd and 12th of November.

One of the highlights of the event takes place on the first day, November 3rd, at 18pm, when the posthumous tribute ceremony to the former First Lady Maria Barroso Soares, «illustrious Olhão native of the village of Fuzeta», whose The name will be given, on this occasion, to the city's auditorium.

«This tribute will feature a solo performance by pianist Júlio Resende, another successful Olhão native. At night, Ruy de Carvalho appears on the AMO stage to present us with Ruy, a História Ovida», according to the Chamber of Olhão, which organizes the event.

For 10 days, this event will bring names such as Ruy de Carvalho, Soraia Chaves, Júlio Resende, Fernando Girão, Viviane or Teresa Salgueiro to the Algarve.

The party, which is free to access, will take place mainly in the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão, but will also take place in places such as Rua do Comércio or the space in front of the city's Municipal Museum.

“Arte Larga” starts at 17pm on November 00rd, at AMO, where several exhibitions and installations will be opened.

Among many other proposals that are part of the program, which can be consulted in full here, the municipality highlights the theater play Pedras com Asas, by ACTA (The Algarve Theater Company) on the 10th, at 21:30 pm, as well as a stand-up comedy show with Jorge Serafim and a concert by Teresa Salgueiro, on the 11, at 16:30 pm and 21:30 pm.

The last day of “Arte Larga” will have activities throughout the day, starting with the Museu ao Largo initiative and the opening of the Municipal Museum Store. There will also be experiences with families, exhibitions and tastings at this location.

“Arte Larga” is a cultural proposal from the Municipality of Olhão that brings together, in the same program and over the course of 10 days, more than three dozen activities in which around 100 authors and artists participate. In this way, the aim is to bring the public to encounter the various forms of art, promoting the sharing of knowledge and experience between creators and thinkers and between them and the public.
