The new synthetic pitch at the José Arcanjo Stadium, in Olhão, was inaugurated this Saturday, October 14th, to a full house. Around 2500 people watched the first game of Olhanense 1912.
In addition to the lawn, José Arcanjo also has new LED lighting, a municipal investment of around 500 thousand euros.
As explained by António Pina, mayor of Olhão, «this requalification aimed to allow all the club's teams to train permanently on their field, freeing up the Municipal Stadium for other sports and levels, responding to the municipality's communities» .
Moved by the crowd present to watch the meeting, the mayor, a former basketball athlete, added that «since, in January 2010, I took office, at the time, as a councilor with responsibility for sport, that support for sport , in all modalities and at all levels, has been, for me, a priority. He will continue to be so as long as he is in charge of the destinies of Olhão City Council».
Olhanense 1912 is currently competing in the 2nd district division.
