57 occurrences, most related to falling trees, but also some flooding, all over the Algarve. This was, until 16pm this Thursday, October 00th, the assessment of the passage of depression “Aline” through the region.
In statements to the Sul Informação, Richard Marques, District operational commander of Faro of Civil Protection, said that, of these 57 incidents, recorded since 00:00 today, 41 were “tree falls”.
«Some hit vehicles, others forced the closure of roads, such as the EN124-3, near Santo Estêvão, municipality of Silves, or the EN267, in Malhada Quente, municipality of Monchique», he said.
In the latter case, work to remove the tree is still ongoing.
Furthermore, the “Aline” depression has been felt «a little throughout the region». Aljezur, with 10 occurrences, is the most affected municipality, followed by Monchique and Portimão (8), Albufeira (6), Silves (5) and Faro (4)

As of 16pm, the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António had not yet registered any situation.
So far, according to Richard Marques, all incidents “are being quickly resolved by the municipal Civil Protection services”.
There were also 12 structural falls to be recorded, namely in Guia (Albufeira) and Arrifana (Aljezur). There are “only” four floods, one of them in Quarteira.
For now, the worst appears to be over, as “a worsening” of weather conditions is expected.
