Alleged attackers of two Farense fans are on the run

Two Farense fans were attacked in Vila Verde today, at the end of the game with Länk Vilaverdense, having been transported to Braga Hospital, revealed the GNR, adding that the alleged attackers are on the run.

After the end of the third round match of the Portuguese Football Cup, in which the Vilaverdense team won, two Farense fans were attacked «having been treated on site and then transferred to Braga Hospital», a source told Lusa. GNR, stressing that there were “two minor injuries”.

"The suspected attackers fled in a car", added the same source, indicating that so far there are four suspects, but "there is still no certainty", as investigations are ongoing.

When the police authorities arrived at the scene, the clashes had already occurred but, according to Farense, their fans were the target of an “ambush” after the game with Länk Vilaverdense, in the Portuguese Cup.

«Approximately half an hour after the end of the game and in the vicinity of the municipal stadium of Cruz do Reguengo, a group of Farense fans, heading to the bus that would transport them back to Faro, were ambushed by a group of approximately 20 to 30 elements, with their faces covered and armed with belts, sticks and other accessories, who brutally assaulted them", reads the note released by the club Faro.

Länk Vilaverdense, from the II Liga, beat the first division Farense, 3-2, at home today and qualified for the fourth round of the Portuguese Football Cup.
