the PS Faro went public to defend that the episode that led to areas of the city without water for "more than three days" was due to the lack of investment in the distribution network and points the finger at the executive led by the social democrat Rogério Bacalhau.

For socialists, “despite Faro being the municipality with the highest water tariff, we do not see the impact of this increase on the quality of the service provided, particularly in terms of the modernization of the distribution network, which precisely due to the level of degradation, leads to the occurrence of this type of problems, with all the losses it causes to residents, including commerce, in the affected areas».

The management and distribution of public water, in Faro, is the responsibility of the municipal company FAGAR, which continued yesterday morning to seek to resolve «problems in the public network», something that ended up happening in the meantime.

In a note sent to newsrooms this Sunday, the PS also draws attention to the fact that the water issue is "a structural problem, prone to worsening due to the effect of climate change", accusing the executive of promoting "the waste of this precious liquid ».

For socialists, "it is imperative to replace municipal irrigation systems with more modern and efficient irrigation systems, such as drip irrigation systems", as well as "reduce water losses throughout storage and distribution systems, both in urban and rural systems”.

«Restructure urban green spaces, replacing species with high water consumption, with indigenous specimens, more sustainable and adapted to the region's climatic conditions» and the promotion of awareness campaigns, among the population, «for the need for rational use of water” are other suggested measures.
