“Próximo” has three new electric buses circulating in Faro

Vehicles will begin to circulate daily on the urban transport network

The “Próximo” urban transport network Faro, has three new 100% electric buses.

The vehicles, which as part of the European Mobility Week were made available for free transport to students from the municipality's schools, will now circulate daily on the urban transport network.

In addition to another electric vehicle (minibus) already in use for around a decade, the acquisition of these three new buses (around 12 meters long and with a capacity for around 90 people) makes it possible to reinforce the company's transport network «with a perspective of savings in terms of fuel consumption, but also in accordance with the environmental concern that is currently a mandatory requirement for operators», says the Chamber of Faro.

According to the company Próximo, the perspective is that, taking into account that each of these vehicles will travel around 60 thousand kilometers per year, it will be possible to reduce the emission of three tons of CO2 compared to what would happen with diesel buses.
