The beaches of Falésia Alfamar and Falésia Açoteias, in the municipality of Albufeira, were banned from bathing this Thursday, the 7th, in the early afternoon, after analyzes of the quality of the water revealed «microbiological values above the reference parameters, finding the water is unsuitable for bathing", announced the National Maritime Authority.
Since Monday, a ban on bathing on several beaches in this county has been decreed, due – at least initially – to "a strong alluvium caused by heavy rain".
On Monday, and at first, "five beaches were banned", although this ban was lifted that day on two of them, namely Peneco and Pescadores, he explained to the Sul Informação Commander Pousadas Godinho, captain of the Port of Portimão.
In this way, the red flag was raised on the beaches of Santa Eulália, Alemães and Inatel.
The following day, the ban was lifted on some beaches, with only two bathing areas being banned from bathing, «the Pescadores and Inatel beaches».
This morning, the green flag was hoisted on these last two beaches, even before the ban on bathing in Falésia Alfamar and Falésia Açoteias was decreed.
In different cases, the AMN hoisted the red flag after receiving instructions to that effect from the Algarve Health Delegate, who, in turn, received information advising against going to the baths from the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) which has carried out analyzes daily to water quality.
This ban will remain in place until the results of water quality analyzes indicate that it is no longer unsuitable for bathing.
