Portimão names car park/garden after teacher Paula Teixeira

Professor Paula Teixeira died in May this year, aged 61

The Portimão City Council will assign the name of the professor Paula Teixeira, who passed away in May, to the new car park and garden that will serve the schools EB/JI da Pedra Mourinha and Escola Básica Júdice Fialho. The inauguration will be this Thursday, September 14th, at 15 pm.

With a total area of ​​5.210 square meters (m2) and an investment of more than 420 thousand euros, the project consisted of the construction of a park with 99 parking spaces, four of which are intended for users with reduced mobility, and the implementation of a collector network rainwater, curbstones, streets and sidewalks, public lighting network, urban furniture and, also, an irrigated and planted area for a green area.

«“Professor Paula”, as she was affectionately known, was always unanimously considered by fellow educators and teachers, staff and students, a citizen deserving of respect and admiration, with her professional and civic career being a benchmark of dedication, zeal and professionalism at the service of the educational community of this land», recalls the Portimão City Council.

 

 

Much of her professional and civic career was spent at the Júdice Fialho School Group, having served as president of the Installation Committee and president of the Executive Council of the EB23 Júdice Fialho School, as well as – and for several consecutive academic years – director of the Group. .

As a way of honoring Paula Teixeira, the Municipality of Portimão unanimously approved in a chamber session to give her name to this landscaped space with parking lot, next to the main school of the Júdice Fialho Group of Schools, which from now on will be called “Parque Professora Paula Teixeira”.
