Order of Economists pays tribute to professor Adriano Pimpão

Initiative included in the Cycle of Tributes to Economists and Reference Managers

Adriano Pimpão will receive the title of Economist Emeritus on October 9th, in a tribute session in Faro, which will be promoted by the Order of Economists, of which the honoree is a member.

According to the Order of Economists, the honor takes into account «his outstanding career in the university and research area», as well as «his civic and political intervention at the service of Portugal».

This initiative is part of the Cycle of Tributes to Economists and Reference Managers, as part of the Celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Order of Economists.

The event, which will take place at the CCDR Algarve headquarters, in Faro, will start with a welcome drink at 17:00 p.m. and will end with a cocktail by 19:00 pm.

Adriano Pimpão was rector of the University of Algarve from 1998 to 2006 and, in that capacity, played an important role in the development of teaching and research in the area of ​​biomedical sciences, particularly medicine.

He was regional director of Planning, at CCDR Algarve, and Secretary of State for Regional Development.

He represented the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP) in the Economic and Social Council and was president of the Loulé Municipal Assembly and the AMAL Intermunicipal Assembly.

In 2013, UAlg awarded him the title of Professor Emeritus.
