Olhão has 32 new electric vehicle charging stations

«At this moment, we already have one of the largest networks of electric chargers per capita in the country»

The municipality of Olhão already has a further 32 charging stations for electric vehicles. The announcement was made by Ricardo Calé, vice-president of the municipality, on the opening day of the European Mobility Week celebrations, in the municipality, this Wednesday, September 20th.

As the mayor explained, this new equipment is part of the municipality's strategy of facilitating technological transition and providing conditions for those who choose this environmentally friendly alternative to get around.

«At the moment, we already have one of the largest networks of electric chargers per capita of the country, but our objective is to double this number by July of next year», he added.

Knowing that the areas where housing predominates have, due to the type of housing itself, better conditions to implement their own charging units, the Municipality's strategy was to favor the large housing clusters in the municipality, such as the areas where buildings predominate, thus improving , access to this service.

The first day of Mobility Week in Olhão was also marked by the inauguration of the accident car exhibition, which will be on display in the central divider on Avenida da República, and highlights the main causes and consequences of road accidents.

The Traffic School, a Municipal Police project that takes the topic of road safety to schools in a fun and educational way, is back this year, and was yesterday with the students from School JI/EB1 Nº 4.

To this day, a program of activities dedicated to sustainable mobility is ongoing, with the aim of facilitating a broad debate on the need to change behavior regarding mobility in the city and municipality of Olhão.
