Loulé reopens municipal swimming pools in the municipality

The Municipal Swimming Pools in the municipality of Loulé will reopen with the start of the new sports season, after having been closed during the summer due to the drought.

The changing rooms will operate normally, but, according to Loulé City Council, «there was a need to implement some limitations».

The municipality says it will continue to take “measures to prevent unnecessary consumption of water in equipment, such as placing flow reducers and timers in showers and washbasin taps, reducing flushing of toilets (expected savings of 50 to 55% of water consumption), reduced watering times, without causing harm to the quality of natural lawns, watering at more appropriate times, when evaporation is not so fast and cleaning the facilities more efficiently, reducing spending on water but keeping the installation in the best hygiene conditions, among other measures».

Other measures, such as replacing the irrigation cannons on fields nº2 in Loulé and Quarteira with more efficient sprinklers, have also been taken.
