There are 17 new firefighters in Faro

The ceremony was part of the Municipality Day celebrations

There are 17 new firefighters in Faro. The pledge of honor of the new members was given on September 6th.

The ceremony, part of the Municipality Day celebrations, was presided over by Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, also counting on the presence of the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection commander Vítor Vaz Pinto, as well as the rest of the municipal executive and several civil entities.

In his welcome speech to his new operatives, the commander welcomed the new elements and thanked "the resilience and professionalism of these men", in addition to "the municipality's investment in strengthening the corporation's intervention capacity", which now has 56 firefighters in the active frame.

The mayor also welcomed the arrival of new reinforcements to the corporation and assured that «this investment guarantees that the safety of people and goods in the city of Faro becomes stronger from now on».

The training of these 17 professionals took place at the Lisbon Sapadores Firefighters Regiment School and at the National Firefighters School, consisting of a theoretical component and a practical component, totaling more than 1810 hours of training in the disciplines of urban fires, forest fires , basic techniques, administrative culture, command, maneuvers, pre-hospital assistance, united order and physical education.

The last months of training took place in the context of work at the Firefighters Sappers Company barracks of Faro, where recruit firefighters were integrated into operational brigades.

The ceremony ended with the usual parade baptism.
