The Pétanque Associations of the North Zone and Barlavento Algarvio and Southwest Alentejo renewed the titles won in the 2022 edition of the Abel Ferreira Cup, in competitions played this Sunday.
The women's event was won by the duo formed by Isabel Pereira (Clube de Petanca de Estorãos) and Sylvie Leite (Centro Recreativo e Cultural de Briteiros) and the men's event by the trio made up of Fernando Valério, Ernesto Rodrigues and Hugo Dores, all from Clube Desportivo and Cultural Center of Nave (Monchique).
Promoted this Sunday by the Portuguese Petanque Federation, the competition had the support of the Petanca Association of Barlavento Algarvio and Sudoeste Alentejano and the host club, Estrela Desportiva de Bensafrim, from Lagos.
59 athletes participated, 45 men and 14 women, representing the five national associations: North (6 men + 2 women), Center (12+4), Barlavento Algarvio and Southwest Alentejano (12+4), Algarve (12+4) and Madeira (3+0).
Next weekend, Grupo Desportivo do Granho, Salvaterra de Magos, will host the National Precision Shooting Final and the Portuguese Petanque Cup.
