Albufeira reclassifies Rua de Santo António

The mayor emphasizes that, when completed, the work will be an «added value to the quality of life and well-being of those who live in the area»

Rua de Santo António, in Albufeira, will undergo renovation work. The contract, which will cost around 814 thousand euros, has already been awarded. 

The work also involves adjacent streets and «provides for the replacement of the old water supply network with new, more resistant and reliable pipes and the installation of a pressure reducing valve, which will reduce water leaks and avoid supplying too much water». pressure in the lower areas of the city», says Albufeira City Council.

Telecommunications, domestic wastewater and rainwater networks will also be renovated and improved, and new means of capturing surface water will be installed, such as drainage grids, which will improve the collection of rainwater, reduce maintenance costs and blockages and improve the entire functioning of the system.

The contract also includes the renovation of the pavement, including the bituminous, paving and curb, which contributes to giving a renewed appearance to the entire intervention area.

«Rua de Santo António and its adjacent streets are close to the main administrative and services area of ​​the city, in an urban area with a high traffic intensity that, in addition to presenting several constraints in terms of the pavement, also needed to be intervened with regard to the water and sanitation network and public lighting», says José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira.

The mayor underlines that, when completed, the work will be an "additional asset for the quality of life and well-being of those who live in the area, at the same time as it will improve circulation conditions for vehicles and pedestrians".
