São Brás de Alportel is once again the stage of “Calçadas – Art Sai à Rua”

The historic center of São Paulo is once again the stage for another edition of “Calçadas – Art Sai à Rua”, an artistic celebration event, which is always repeated on the 14th of August, when art comes to life in the public space and promises captivate and inspire visitors.

With free admission and starting at 20 pm in the streets of the old town of São Paulo, the 00 edition presents cultural proposals on 2023 different stages and spaces.

Dance shows, moments of «silence in which you will sing fado», blues, rock, folk concerts, not forgetting the comedy time performed by Jorge Serafim or even sessions of children's stories and tales to make your hair crawl, are some of the proposals of this program.

In addition, there will be urban art demonstrations, shows of local products and handicrafts, as well as exhibitions at the Municipal Library and at the Center for Arts and Crafts, which bring to the public the dynamics of these cultural spaces open throughout the year and, exceptionally, on this night. .

The windows will also be decorated as part of the “A Janela Mais Bonita” contest, launched for residents and traders in the historic area.

Organized annually by the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, within the scope of the strategy for valuing and boosting the historic center of São Paulo, with the support of the Calçadas Commission, made up of informal São Paulo citizens, this event aims to «celebrate the identity of the region, promoting cultural accessibility, as well as interaction between local and national artists and spectators».

According to Marlene Guerreiro, councilor for Culture at the Chamber, «bringing art closer to the general public and raising awareness of the importance of artistic creation in everyday life, as an element that expands our human dimension, is the objective of this inclusive initiative, of valuing local identity, but also from this open door to the world and to the artistic diversity that enriches us».
