The 34th Festa do Frango da Guia once again promotes the region's specialty and entertains locals and tourists alike, this time with names like Rosinha, Nelson Ramos and Miguel Bravo.
The party takes place at the sports center in the parish of Guia, in the municipality of Albufeira, on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of August.
In addition to the chicken that gives its name to the event and is the calling card for the Parish that gives it its name, the event has a lively lineup where there is no lack of popular music and entertainment.
On Thursday, the 3rd of August, Rosinha and Emanuel and Tânia will perform. On Friday, the 4th, it's Miguel Bravo's turn, a participant in the Got TalentPortugal, take the stage, as well as RS&L. Saturday is the turn of Som Time, Rancho Folclórica do Algoz and Julieta. The party ends on Sunday with Triudos and Nelson Ramos.
The event also includes the XV Handicraft Exhibition, which brings together several local artisans with their works that can be purchased there.
For the president of the Parish Council of Guia Dinis Nascimento, «this is one of the main events of the Parish and the Municipality, which precisely promotes one of the best known dishes in the Region, representing an excellent entertainment program for those who visit us».
For the mayor, «Guia intends to assert itself more and more, as a territory that combines much of what is excellent in the region, without failing to look at its traditions and differentiating characteristics, and in this aspect, gastronomy is a from them".
João Cabrita, president of Guia Futebol Clube, highlights the «importance of this event for the promotion of the Parish, but also for the collection of revenue for the club that promotes recreational and sports activities for the entire population».
The leader also underlines that «much of the work carried out in this event is done based on the volunteering of many leaders and parents linked to the club, which is also a way of deepening relationships inside and outside the institution».
The Festa do Frango da Guia is an annual event organized by Guia Futebol Clube, with the support of the Parish Council of Guia, Albufeira City Council and Comércio Local da Guia.
