Loulé Cultural Rentrée brings theater, dance, cinema, music, performance… and thought

New season of a program that «promises to refresh spirits after the summer, with an incredible diversity of quality shows»

“Twelfth Night”, one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies, brought by Teatro do Eléctrico, after having sold out theaters in Lisbon, will be presented on the 9th and 10th of September, at Cineteatro Louletano, opening the new season of a programming that «promises to refresh spirits after the summer, with an incredible diversity of quality shows».

«In a comical and simultaneously tragic reinterpretation, but also daring and provocative, “Twelfth Night” promises not to leave anyone indifferent», emphasizes the Câmara de Loulé.

The session on the 10th, at 17 pm, will have the accessibility resources of Audiodescription and Portuguese Sign Language.

Also on the 10th, at 10:00 am and 11:30 am, in the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova, Companhia Musicalmente brings the much requested Concerts for Babies. The proposal is called “New Soloist, Lips that Dance” and gives prominence to harmonica and, of course, to babies who are (very) active participants.

On September 12, at 21:00, the sessions of the film cycle “French Film of the Month” resume at the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova, with the film “Just Kids”, a dramatic comedy that talks about a tragedy and the way to overcome it, with the strength and energy of youth.

On the 14th and 15th of September, Tânia Farias directs the workshop “Experience with the Tribe”, an event that is an integral part of the creative process of “Sobre Rosas e Margaridas”, by Folha de Medronho, with its premiere scheduled for the 19th of October at 21:00 p.m. Cineteatro Louletano. On 16 September, the Festival of Performing Arts by Corpo de Hoje begins in Loulé, with the piece “desdobrável”, a concert of improvised music in the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova, at 19 pm.

The show has a variable number of elements and is based on the concept of sound creation in real time, through a process based on the importance given to the moment in which each sound occurs.

Still on the 16th, but at Cineteatro Louletano, at 21, the premiere of “Campo Força Chama”, a dance piece by Josefa Pereira that results from a residency in Loulé, integrated in Projeto Casa, a new program to support Artistic Creation in area of ​​Performing Arts, which provides long-term residencies, as well as the respective premieres, absolute premieres and subsequent presentations.

The CASA Project, promoted by Cineteatro Louletano, O Espaço do Tempo and Centro Cultural Vila Flor, is a stimulus to creation in the areas of dance, theater, performance and disciplinary crossings and aims to contribute to the development and sustainability of national creators or residents in Portugal, encouraging the experimentation and renewal of stage languages.

On September 17th, there is theater, with “Espanto”, at CECAL – Tempo das Artes, an event that is an integral part of the Performing Arts Festival by Corpo de Hoje. “Espanto” is aimed at families, on Sunday at 11 am, and admission is free.

In the afternoon, at 17 pm, in the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova, there is a concert by the cycle Ilustres Desconhecidos. They are “The Lemon Lovers”, a pop band that has been gaining space in the Portuguese music scene.

On the 21st, Thursday, at 21h, the “Conversas à Quinta” return, a moment in which the public can have closer contact with artists or creators who present works at the Cineteatro Louletano.

This time, the spotlight is on the promoters of the CASA Project. The conversation will have as protagonists Dália Paulo and Paulo Silva (Cineteatro Louletano), Pedro Barreiro (O Espaço do Tempo) and Rui Torrinha (Centro Cultural Vila Flor). Entry is free.

From the 22nd to the 30th, Cineteatro promotes a Dance workshop, as part of the Corpo de Hoje Performing Arts Festival. The workshop will be in the village of Tôr, in Loulé, more specifically on the Medieval Bridge and registrations can be made through the email [email protected] and participants will take part in the performance, on the 30th, in the same place.

On the 23rd, at 19 pm, at CECAL – Tempo das Artes, a new show integrated into the Festival. “Dois Irmãos”, by Alex & Pedro Russo, is a performance-installation about memory as the engine of who we are as individuals. Alex and Pedro (the two brothers) go on a journey in search of the reconstruction of Alex's lost memory, rediscovering and questioning his philosophical position in the world around them. Entry is free.

The following day, on the 24th, a great concert with the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, which does not come “alone”. OJA brings to mind Jane Monheit, an American jazz singer who studied at the Manhattan School of Music and who won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition award, one of the world's leading awards in the field of Jazz. As usual, the orchestra is conducted by trumpeter Hugo Alves.

From the 26th to the 28th of September, there is a Theater workshop, linked to the play that arrives in Loulé on the 28th of October, “Summer Night”. This will be the first part of the workshop, focusing on the area of ​​dramaturgy. It is aimed at secondary schools in the municipality of Loulé, with the aim of making young people show their aspirations and concerns in the play, created by Teatro Nova Europa.

On September 28, at 18 pm, Companhia Amarelo Silvestre presents “Migrar”, a performance in transit through Loulé that sees walking not only as an aesthetic action, but also a political one. Something that allows us to walk at random and go the wrong way, being a spectator and protagonist of our center, of our place. Entries can be made by email [email protected].

 

On the 29th of September, Cineteatro Louletano promotes another workshop by Teatro Nova Europa, this time not for students, but for an adult audience interested in theatre.

The “Critique” workshop is divided into three sessions, two face-to-face and one online, in which the playwright Luís Mestre will share the transformation movement from drama to the present day, to later provide participants with tools for critical and theatrical analysis.

 

 

After viewing the show “If I were Nina” (September 29), there will be a final session in which participants will put into practice the concepts and tools addressed.

Almost to the end of September: theatre, with the show “If I were Nina”, by Rita Calçada Bastos, performed by actress Carla Maciel. Through a work of writing and dramaturgy, Rita Calçada Bastos establishes a dialogue of suppositions and conjectures between a Nina stolen from the texts "A Gaivota", by Anton Chekov and "Os Apontamentos de Trigorin", by Tennessee Williams, and the imaginary of herself. actress.

“What would have happened to Nina if she hadn't gone to live in Moscow, in a hotel room given over to the delusions of her passion for Trigorin?” The question is the starting point for a solo exercise, on the border between theatrical fiction and reality. “If I were Nina”, on September 29, at 21 pm, includes Audiodescription, for people who are blind or have low vision.

And on the last day of the month, the highlight goes to dance, with the performance “Interferes vol.7”, by Ana Borges. Ana Borges embraces the relationship between dance and unconventional spaces, following an aesthetic linked to the American dance movements of the 60s/70s of the XNUMXth century, by choreographers such as Trisha Brown and Yvonne Rainer, making dance and architecture interact, having associated the idea of democratization of the body and space.

“Interferes vol.7” will be screened as part of the festival, at Ponte Medieval da Tôr, in Loulé, on September 30th at 19 pm, with live music.

With a reference program (which you can consult on the Cineteatro website and social networks), Cineteatro Louletano is accredited by the Portuguese Theaters and Cinetheaters Network, also integrating the Network of Theaters with Accessible Programming and providing shows with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language for the Deaf (with a capital “S” are Portuguese Sign Language speakers) and others with Audio Description, for blind or visually impaired people.
