The Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) now has more funds for the construction of the bridge between Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana (in neighboring Andalusia) and for the Algarve Regional Water Efficiency Plan, following the reprogramming of this financing instrument, which was published in Diário da República on Tuesday, August 8th.
In the case of the Alcoutim international bridge, a project for which 9 million euros were originally allocated, there is now a total budget of almost 13,5 million euros (13.450.000) to bring the work to a successful conclusion.
In order to carry out the interventions foreseen in sub-measure 2 of the Algarve Regional Water Efficiency Plan (reducing water losses and increasing efficiency in the agricultural sector), 21 million euros are now available, when 17 million were previously allocated.
This reprogramming of funds from the “bazooka” European Union, created to respond to the adverse effects of the pandemic and to make the economy of the European Union countries more resilient to crises, also happens in other areas, with influence for the Algarve.
This is the case with the increase in funds allocated to primary health care, which rose from around 466 million to 578 million.
Part of these more than one hundred million euros increase, found the Sul Informação, will be allocated to the Algarve, a region for which close to 50 million euros from this line of financing had already been earmarked.
There was also a substantial increase in the amount allocated to the Support Program for Access to Housing, which has made it possible to finance various housing solutions found by municipalities across the country, including those in the Algarve.
With regard to the Algarve region, on the 30th of June, the Local Housing Strategies of the 16 municipalities in the Algarve provided, as a whole, for a total of 360 million euros.
However, Faro revised its strategy, which will significantly increase this amount.
