Portimonense was thrashed 5-0 by Gil Vicente, on their trip to Barcelos this Saturday, the 12th, to play the first game of the 2023/24 I Liga championship.

The first sign of danger was even given by the Algarve team, in the 4th minute, by Jasper, but it didn't take long before the home team took the lead.

The referee signaled a foul by Pedrão, a Portimonense centre-back, on Buta, and Fujimoto did not fail.

It was 1-0, in the 9th minute.

The Japanese player from Gil Vicente had to score twice and put the score at 2-0 even before the end of the first half, but already after 45 minutes, after assisting Zé Carlos.

It was a bad night for Portimonense and the second half only confirmed it.

In the 58th minute Pedro Tiba made it 3-0, with a shot from outside the area and the 4-0 reached the 72nd minute, pointed out by Tidjany Touré.

The final result was sealed at 90+5 by Gabriel Pereira, following a corner and after review by VAR.

With this heavy defeat, Portimonense is at the bottom of the table, despite only having played one round of the championship.

Next week, on the 19th, at 20 pm, Portimonense will host Boavista, on the 30nd round of the I Liga.
