Lifesaving turns 7 and debates «Can Artificial Intelligence (AI) save lives?»

Debate takes place at FNAC do Fórum, on the 11th of August, at 18 pm

The Lifesaving editorial project will celebrate its seventh anniversary on the 11th of August, at 18 pm, at Fnac in the Forum Algarve, in Faro, where he will debate «Can Artificial Intelligence (AI) save lives?». 

Property of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) and produced by professionals from the Emergency Medical Vehicles (VMER) team of Faro and Albufeira, this journal is a scientific and technical publication in the area of ​​medical emergencies, broadcast in digital format, with quarterly periodicity.

During the event, in addition to the presentation of the 29th edition of the magazine Lifesaving – Revista de Emergência Médica and number 3 of volume 3 of Lifesaving Scientific, the editorial project team holds a session for the community, taking advantage of «this opportunity for dissemination and external public, fulfilling its purpose of promoting health literacy, and this time also digital literacy», they refer.

The community session will discuss the theme «Can Artificial Intelligence (AI) save lives?», which will address the following topics «What is AI?», «What applications in Medical Emergency?» and «What ethical challenges?», moderated by physician Daniel Nunez, Director of the Department of Emergency and Intensive Care.

The main topic will be addressed by speakers Pedro Cardoso, coordinating professor at the UALG Higher Institute of Engineering, Laboratory of Robotics and Engineering Systems, Teresa Matias Correia, researcher at the Center for Marine Sciences in the Algarve (CCMAR) – who is also dedicated to acquisition, reconstruction and movement correction techniques in medical imaging, namely in Magnetic Resonance applied to cardiovascular diseases, using artificial intelligence algorithms – and, José Coelho, physiotherapist, master in Sociology, postgraduate in Bioethics and Medical Ethics, Invited Assistant Professor at UALG.

Simultaneously, an online exhibition will take place with the original artistic and didactic materials of the editorial project and audiovisual content will also be projected to disseminate the launch materials of the various editions.
