Choreography of flying sardine baskets returned to Portimão pier

About 60 people, dressed up, with the sayings and even the transport of the time, revived the old bustle

The historical recreation of the traditional unloading of sardines which, until four decades ago, was a picturesque activity on the riverside of Portimão marked, on the 1st of August, the opening of the 27th edition of the Festival dedicated to that fish.

Promoted by the Museum of Portimão, with the participation of cultural and recreational associations from the municipality and other volunteers, the historical recreation returned to the old pier on the edge of the Arade, where trawlers loaded with sardines used to dock for unloading, which was done in canastas, which flew from the boat to land.
