Home construction, home care and day care will advance in Albufeira

Câmara de Albufeira signed yesterday the contract worth more than 8 million

The Council of Albufeira signed yesterday the contract worth 8.254.663,93 euros that will allow the construction of the Home, Home Support and Day Center of Fontainhas.

The contract was signed by José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, and by the representative of Telhabel – Construções SA, the company responsible for the work.

The document now goes to the Court of Auditors, «it is hoped that the work can start at the end of next September, with an execution period of 720 days», explains the Municipality.

This new social equipment will respond to 131 users, with the Nursing Home able to accommodate 61 people, the Home Support facility, 20, and the Day Center will accommodate 50 users.

«This act is of great importance for our municipality, as it contributes to a long-awaited social response», said José Carlos Rolo, recalling that the company has done a remarkable job, judging by the works already carried out in Albufeira. , namely the Home, Nursery and Day Center at Olhos de Água, as well as the Guia Nursery.

«We have guided our responses by transversal work, from childhood to old age, with the month of August this year being a moment that marks our municipality, as it is the month in which we are going to inaugurate, on the 20th, the Home, Nursery and Day Center at Olhos de Água, we also signed a contract for new equipment of the same nature».

 

 

The contract foresees the construction of a main building and an annexe with technical support areas, as well as access roads, parking and arrangements of the surrounding outdoor spaces. The main building comprises the residential structure for the elderly (ERPI), in addition to the day care center and home support, including socializing and support areas.

There will also be the construction, with 1 floor, of an annex, with the lower floor destined for technical areas to support the main building and in the outdoor spaces, there will be water reservoirs (fire, consumption and irrigation), as well as an emergency and a transformer station.

The land for this new equipment has a dimension of 28.356 m2 and is made up of three plots: one of them is intended for the equipment, the other is a rural area and the third plot will be for agricultural use. With two entries.

 

 

Satisfied, the mayor hopes that everything runs smoothly and adds that «we are committed to promoting sustainable aging in the municipality of Albufeira, meaning that we are attentive to all forms of care».

«One of them is born with the physical structures and the other translates into support for the IPSS's to promote an aging that maintains the functional capacity of the users, that is, that they guide their work towards the maintenance of their capacities, allowing all People are and do what they have reason to value. With this, it is urgent to combat ageism and see the elderly as valuable sources of learning. For this, our seniors, and tomorrow we will be the members of this age group, have to have good living conditions», he concludes.
